A History of Second Place

This book asks why we remember who we do by describing the lives of various individuals who've had their contributions to society overlooked, forgotten, or written out of history.

四十九 (49)

Zine on the censorship of journalists in China, where as of 2016, more journalists are being held as political prisoners than in any other country. This zine investigates ugliness as instances of socio-political transgressions.

Two Plus Two Makes Five

Two Plus Two Makes Five is a study of Poland's right wing shift since the election of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) in late 2015. Inspired by the actions of Polish artists and designers under Communist rule, this project affirms the potential and nature of art and design to engage with democratic society to educate, inspire, and motivate to action.

This project was completed alongside my thesis paper, The Design of Dissent: Graphic Design for Socio-Political Engagement which examined the socio-political dimension and application of graphic design. Informed by research in activism, agonism, visual rhetoric, and design criticism, Two Plus Two Makes Five is the culmination of my research in the Master of Design program at York University.

This Is What It Feels Like

This Is What It Feels Like, or Design as Therapy: Presenting Design as a Therapeutic Tool for Mental Illness is composed of selected chapters from the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders which provide information about each recognized anxiety disorder. By using the text of the manual as an artistic medium, this book aims to provide an authentic view of life with anxiety.

Created with only ink and tape, it offers a therapeutic process—take something that represents what holds you back, and make it your own. You're bound to find beauty (and catharsis) in it.
